5G Coverage Expands in Pakistan: Here Are the Cities and Areas Where It Is Available So Far

Pakistan’s 5G rollout remains in its early stages, with limited but gradually expanding coverage across selected urban areas. While full nationwide availability is still pending, telecom operators are steadily increasing test zones and service pockets in major cities.

At present, 5G connectivity in Pakistan is primarily being offered by Jazz and Zong, according to their publicly available network coverage maps. These operators have begun deploying 5G in select high-traffic and commercially important locations, particularly in large metropolitan centers.

Coverage remains concentrated in parts of major cities, with availability varying by neighborhood and network infrastructure readiness. Users may experience 5G access in specific zones while still relying on 4G in surrounding areas.

Zong and Jazz have published interactive coverage maps on their official platforms, allowing users to check real-time or near-real-time 5G availability in their respective regions. These tools help subscribers identify whether their device and location fall within active 5G zones.

In contrast, Ufone has not yet launched commercial 5G services in Pakistan. As a result, its network continues to operate on existing 4G LTE infrastructure while preparing for future next-generation upgrades.

Industry observers note that Pakistan’s 5G expansion is progressing cautiously due to infrastructure requirements, spectrum allocation processes, and investment considerations. Telecom operators are focusing on optimizing existing networks while gradually introducing next-generation capabilities in targeted areas.

Major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad are expected to remain at the forefront of early 5G deployment due to their high population density and stronger digital demand. These urban centers are typically prioritized for pilot projects and phased rollouts before broader nationwide expansion.

Experts believe that widespread 5G availability will take time, as it requires significant upgrades to telecom infrastructure, including towers, fiber connectivity, and compatible devices. Until then, coverage will continue to expand in a phased and location-specific manner.

Users are advised to consult official telecom coverage maps for the most accurate and updated information regarding 5G availability in their areas. These maps are regularly updated as operators expand their networks and introduce new service zones.

As Pakistan continues its digital transformation journey, 5G is expected to play a key role in enabling faster connectivity, improved mobile broadband experiences, and support for emerging technologies such as IoT, smart cities, and advanced cloud services.
