Zong has launched Z HomeFi, a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) home broadband service that the company describes as Pakistan’s first 5G-powered fixed wireless home internet offering.
The new service takes 5G connectivity beyond smartphones and brings it directly into homes through a wireless broadband setup. Zong says Z HomeFi is designed to provide households with high-speed internet without requiring traditional fibre installation or fixed-line infrastructure.
Z HomeFi is currently available in 10 major cities across Pakistan. The service is being offered exclusively through Zong Customer Service Centres at launch, while the company plans to expand availability to franchises in the future.
The service is aimed at households looking for flexible broadband connectivity for everyday digital activities. These include online learning, remote work, video streaming, browsing, entertainment and other internet-based services.
Zong has introduced 12 prepaid Z HomeFi bundles to accommodate different usage requirements. The packages offer internet speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps, while monthly data allowances range from 100 GB to 500 GB.
According to the company, the monthly package prices range from PKR 4,500 to PKR 11,000, inclusive of applicable taxes. This gives customers several options depending on their preferred speed, data consumption and household requirements.
The service uses a 5G indoor Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) device. Priced at PKR 22,000, the equipment is designed around a plug-and-connect setup, reducing the complexity normally associated with installing fixed broadband connections.
One of the main differences between Z HomeFi and conventional home broadband is the lack of a traditional fibre connection to the premises. Instead, the service uses Zong’s 5G network to provide wireless connectivity to the home.
This approach can offer greater flexibility for households that may not want to deal with extensive cabling or fixed-line installation. It also represents another potential use of 5G technology beyond conventional mobile phone connectivity.
Zong says the launch forms part of its broader efforts to develop technology-led digital services in Pakistan. The company is positioning Z HomeFi as a solution designed around the changing connectivity requirements of modern households.
Commenting on the launch, Zong Head of Marketing Sajid Munir said the service is intended to bring 5G technology directly into Pakistani homes while providing a convenient broadband experience without the complexity of fibre installation and fixed-line infrastructure.
The company also highlighted a range of potential uses for the service, including education, professional work, entertainment, content creation and staying connected with others.
The introduction of 5G Fixed Wireless Access could add another option to Pakistan’s growing home broadband market. As more consumers depend on reliable internet for work, education and entertainment, wireless broadband solutions could play an increasing role in meeting household connectivity needs.
With Z HomeFi, Zong is extending its 5G network into the home broadband segment and offering customers an alternative to traditional fixed-line connectivity. The service’s expansion to additional sales locations could further increase access as the company develops its offering.
