Pakistan’s Cheapest 5G Phones Now Cost Around Rs. 36,000

Pakistan’s most affordable 5G smartphones are now available for approximately Rs. 36,000, according to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT). The development highlights growing access to next-generation mobile technology as the country continues expanding its 5G network infrastructure.

The ministry shared the information in its reply to the National Assembly, providing an update on the availability of 5G-compatible smartphones and the progress of network deployment across Pakistan.

According to the reported figures, 607,093 5G-capable mobile phones were locally assembled between January and August 2026. The increase in local assembly reflects the growing availability of devices that can support faster mobile connectivity as Pakistan moves towards wider adoption of 5G technology.

The availability of relatively affordable 5G handsets could help make the technology accessible to a broader segment of consumers. However, the overall cost of switching to a 5G smartphone will still depend on device specifications, brand, storage capacity, and market availability.

Alongside the expansion of compatible smartphones, Pakistan has also made progress in developing the infrastructure needed to support next-generation mobile services. The ministry reported that 1,782 5G sites have been deployed across 24 cities.

The rollout follows the multiband spectrum auction and the signing of licences on March 19, 2026. The first phase of the deployment is currently underway, marking an important step in the country’s transition towards advanced mobile networks.

The expansion of 5G infrastructure is expected to create opportunities for faster data services, improved connectivity, and better support for applications that require high-speed internet. Potential benefits include smoother video streaming, quicker downloads, improved online gaming experiences, and more reliable connections for compatible devices, depending on network performance and coverage.

Nevertheless, the availability of 5G services will depend on several factors, including the location of network sites, operators’ coverage plans, device compatibility, and the commercial availability of services in different areas.

The reported price of around Rs. 36,000 provides an indication of the current entry-level cost of accessing 5G-compatible hardware in Pakistan. Consumers should still compare handset specifications and confirm whether a particular model supports the relevant network bands before purchasing a device.

With hundreds of thousands of 5G-capable phones assembled locally and network infrastructure expanding across multiple cities, Pakistan is gradually building the foundations for wider adoption of next-generation mobile connectivity. The pace of adoption will depend on affordable devices, reliable coverage, and the continued development of 5G services.
