Pakistan’s automotive and mobility sector witnessed an unusual technology showcase at PAPS 2026 with the debut of the GOVY AirCab, a two-seat electric aircraft designed for short-distance urban transportation.
The futuristic aircraft was displayed by GAC Pakistan at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026, giving visitors an opportunity to see a new form of mobility that could eventually expand beyond conventional road transportation.
The GOVY AirCab uses electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) technology. Unlike conventional aircraft, eVTOL vehicles are designed to take off and land vertically, making the technology particularly relevant to potential urban transportation applications where road congestion and limited space can be major challenges.
At PAPS 2026, PakWheels also spoke with a GOVY representative about the company’s plans for the technology and its potential role in the broader low-altitude economy.
The concept of the low-altitude economy has gained increasing attention in China, where it covers a range of short-distance aviation activities. These can include air taxi services, tourism flights, emergency response operations and other forms of aviation conducted below traditional airline routes.
GOVY developed the AirCab as the low-altitude mobility arm incubated by GAC Group. Its appearance in Pakistan was presented as a technology showcase rather than a conventional vehicle launch, highlighting the growing international interest in electric aviation and next-generation transportation.
The two-seat configuration indicates that the AirCab is being developed with short-distance mobility in mind. Such aircraft could potentially be used for urban travel and other specialized services if the required infrastructure, regulations and operating frameworks are established.
The display at PAPS 2026 also reflects how major automotive exhibitions are increasingly becoming platforms for technologies that extend beyond traditional cars and motorcycles. For Pakistan, the appearance of the GOVY AirCab offers an early look at how emerging eVTOL technology could become part of the country’s future mobility landscape.
