PTA to Launch National System for Internet and Telecom Network Monitoring

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is planning to implement a comprehensive system to monitor internet and telecom networks nationwide, aiming to enhance performance, security, and regulatory oversight.

Officials said the authority will develop a framework for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) under a National Telecom Monitoring Solution. The initiative is expected to improve coordination across Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, ensuring efficient management of data flows and network operations.

The proposed system will include technical and regulatory guidelines to establish and interconnect Internet Exchange Points across the country. PTA officials emphasized that the framework will support transparency, resilience, and real-time monitoring of both public and private telecom networks.

Industry experts note that this initiative could strengthen Pakistan’s telecom ecosystem by addressing network congestion, improving service quality, and bolstering cybersecurity measures. It also aligns with global best practices in digital infrastructure management.

The PTA has stated that the National Telecom Monitoring Solution will be rolled out in phases, with continuous evaluation and adjustments to meet the evolving demands of internet and telecom services across Pakistan.
